Reminder: "Punch's Cousin" Will Return on Monday

Last week in Punch’s Cousin, we found that, surprisingly, Julian/Mr. Punch had been shot by Arthur (who was following the orders of the delightfully bizarre Ulrika Rittenhouse). After being shot, Mr. Punch retreated back into himself where he had a long chat with Julian about the life that they share together.

Meanwhile, Barbara Allen—in a rare moment of compassion—pleaded with Marie Laveau to save her brother. Marie attempted to use her “magic” to revive Julian, but declared that she couldn’t save a body that was occupied by two spirits. Just when it seemed that they’d have to decide between Julian and Mr. Punch, Marjani came to the rescue. Showing inhuman strength, Marjani carried Julian/Mr. Punch to safety. Depositing Julian at St. Louis Cathedral, Marjani called upon “The Holy Mother.” Suddenly, Robert, Cecil and Adrienne appeared. When Punch weakly explained that Marjani had rescued him, the others found that Punch’s savior was nowhere to be seen.

Robert painfully removed the bullet from Mr. Punch’s chest and they brought him back to their borrowed house on Royal Street to recuperate as 1852 came to an end. At that very moment, Marjani returned to Iolanthe’s house with a New Year’s message for the “Elegant Ogress.” Just what does Marjani have in mind for Iolanthe? We’ll see this week.

Mr. Punch’s recovery will prove to be less-than-smooth as Robert realizes that there are some complications from the shooting. Meanwhile, Cecil and Adrienne fear Iolanthe’s retribution for their display at the masquerade ball. Edward Cage will find that the terms of his “adoption” of Barbara’s child are steeper than he realized, and Ulrika and Arthur embark on a new plot. Barbara Allen also has her hands full as she finds herself trapped between two very powerful forces.

This promises to be another exciting week with Punch’s Cousin. I look forward to sharing it with all of you.
