Goal for the Day: Take Responsibility for What You Feel

Sometimes, it’s difficult to not be influenced by the attitudes and dispositions of the people around us. You’ll encounter all sorts of personalities throughout the day from the exuberant to the dour. Very often, the moods of others are contagious and you walk away from the encounter affected by the energy of the people with whom you just interacted.


But, you’re responsible for how you feel. Your outlook is your doing. You’re not a sponge. You don’t have to absorb the emotions of other people. It’s up to you to be bright and optimistic. Your reactions are your own decision. The way in which you behave comes from within you—not from anywhere else.

Giving yourself a moment to process the emotional energy of other people allows you to compare it to what you actually think and feel. When you take responsibility for your own feelings, you are giving yourself the power to be free of angst and to face the world with a confident smile.
