Person of the Week: Brad Garrett

Brad Garrett
Everybody knows Brad Garrett—or, at least they think they do. We’re more familiar with Robert Barone, the husky-voiced, self-loathing sibling of Ray on the long-running sit-com, Everybody Loves Raymond. Far more jovial and light-hearted than Robert, Brad Garrett doesn’t really speak in that deep baritone. He is, however, really that tall.

Garrett began his career in 1984 as a Grand Champion on Star Search, quickly achieving great success as a stand-up comedian and making appearances on late night programs. His appearance with Johnny Carson led to a series of important connections that allowed Garrett to perform as an opening act for celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross and Liza Minelli.

Now, Garrett works many jobs as a comedian, actor, voice performer, and a professional poker player. Garrett founded the charity The Maximum Hope Foundation which was named in honor of his children, Maxwell and Hope. The foundation is dedicated to helping families of severely ill children manage through stressful financial and emotional times. To learn more about Brad Garrett, visit his official Web site.

For making us laugh for many years and for making the lives of people in need a little easier, Brad Garrett is our “Person of the Week.”
