Mr. Punch of Belgrave Square will Continue on Monday

In the last few weeks, I’ve received many comments from readers saying how much they hate Ellen Barrett and Finlay Donnan. With good reason, I might add. They—along with the Baron Lensdown—have been up to no good.

Of course, Finlay is betraying Ellen with the baron and Ellen is betraying Finlay with the baron and the baron seems to have his own agenda. Therefore, none of them trust one another anyway.

At the start of the week, Ellen had donned Mrs. North’s fancy dress for the Servants’ Ball, and, with Finlay’s help, left Mrs. North’s corpse in the castle’s silver vaults. Poor Mrs. North. Ellen stood in the Great Hall throughout the entire ball, waiting for the Duke to give the baby to “Mrs. North.” She finally got her chance and managed to take Colin upstairs where she signaled to the baron who was lurking outside.

Meanwhile, Punch and Robert continued to receive their guests and, despite his nervousness about Colin being alone with Mrs. North, Punch managed to convince Robert to dance. Afterwards, Punch and Robert shared a pleasant conversation with Gerard and Gamilla—totally unaware of what was going on upstairs.

Ellen and the baron had a plot to steal the Duke’s jewels and plant them on Gerard and Charles. But, Ellen had another thought—she told the baron to meet Finlay atop the Central Tower where, as we know, the Baron Lensdown, had previously committed a mysterious crime. Ellen told the baron that it was time for history to repeat itself. The baron showed a bit of humanity when he demonstrated concern for Colin and essentially ordered Ellen to take the baby to his nursery where he could be safe. Ellen decided otherwise, but was shocked when Gamilla and Punch came upstairs to check on the child.

Of course, Punch was quite upset to find the nursery empty and sent Gamilla to fetch Robert who returned with Gerard. With Gerard and Gamilla searching for Mrs. North and the baby, Robert and Punch were shocked to find Finlay—dressed as the Devil—coming into the nursery with their son. Punch was furious and threatened to kill the man who claimed Mrs. North had ordered him to look after the baby while she heated his milk. While Punch inspected the baby, Robert also threatened Finlay and shared with the footman the fact that the Duke had discovered that his jewelry casket had been robbed. Finlay left, but was clearly up to something. And, at that very moment, Gerard found Mrs. North’s body.

Now, we can all see that the ball is about to come to a screeching halt. As the entire party is forced to stay in the castle because of the murder of Mrs. North and the theft of the Duke’s jewels, Ellen’s plan must take a drastic and deadly turn and Robert and Punch will soon uncover an unexpected secret. Meanwhile, Gerard and Charles will have the fight of their life ahead of them and Gamilla finds herself in deeper and deeper trouble at the hands of the woman she considered her close friend. Expect a surprise arrival and a bizarre revelation which will take your breath away. Did you miss any chapters this week? If you did, you know you can read them in the Chapter Archive where there are also summaries of each chapter.

Thanks for reading!
