Object of the Day, Caption Contest: An Odd Portrait Scrap

Our Nineteenth Century counterparts were scissors-happy. They enjoyed cutting pictures out of publications, they enjoyed assembling pages of scraps and collecting cards. Most were creative and visual and reveled in surrounding themselves with pleasing images. In large part, that’s why I like them.

I’m not sure from where this woman came. The reverse of the page is not printed. The image has obviously been cut out from something else.

No matter…she rather looks as if she somehow liberated herself. She’s got a mischievous look on her face, and, clearly is nothing but trouble.

We’ve not had a caption contest for quite awhile. So, let’s do.

What do you think this lass is about? What’s she thinking? What would she say?

Answers in the comments, please.

You're very weird, Matt. It's refreshing.

As Mrs. Bates sat there staring into her little book, she couldn't help but smile.
"Someday" she thought, "this book will help little Norman become the worlds greatest taxidermist and make his mother proud."

Until he locks me in the root cellar, and, then...well...it won't be good.

Yes, she will.

She looks completely insane!

Joseph Crisalli said...

Well, maybe not completely...

See my hat?

I hollowed out a duck.

Ain't it grand?

Joseph Crisalli said...

Not too far from the truth of some of those hats.

"New Silence of the Lambs Brand Lotion. Use Lamb Brand, or else it gets the hose again."

Yikes! But, she'd be a good spokesmodel for that.
